# Python Discord bot hosting

HostDC runs Python 3.12 and 3.13 bots online 24/7, on a free plan with a 256 MB RAM pool, 0.5 CPU and 512 MB storage. We install your requirements, start your entry file and supervise the process.

## Three steps

**1. Bring your project.** Put a `requirements.txt` next to your entry file:

```
requirements.txt
main.py
```

```python
import os
print("Logged in as", os.environ.get("HOSTDC_BOT_ID"))
```

**2. Add your token** on the Secrets tab. It arrives as `os.environ["DISCORD_TOKEN"]`.

**3. Press Deploy.** We install your requirements, run `python main.py` and stream the console. Set a different entry file on the Settings tab if yours is named otherwise.

## Limits you should know

The free plan gives a 256 MB RAM pool, 0.5 CPU and 512 MB storage, and needs reactivating weekly. Mini, Lite, Pro and Max are the paid plans: Lite is $1.69 a month with a 1 GB pool and daily backups. Pro is $2.49 a month with a 2 GB pool. The [pricing page](/pricing) lists the differences.

Any PyPI package installs through our proxy, which checks each version against the known-malicious list and its published checksum. Nothing installs at runtime, and installed packages count toward your storage.

## FAQ

### Which Python versions are available?
3.12 and 3.13. New bots default to 3.13.

### Can I use a virtualenv or Poetry?
We build the environment for you from `requirements.txt`. Export a requirements file from Poetry and commit it.

### Is asyncio fine on half a CPU?
Yes. A typical gateway bot spends its time waiting on the socket, not burning CPU.

### What if a package will not install?
The build log says why: a known-malicious version, a checksum mismatch, a file over the size limit, or no wheel for your Python version. Pin another version, or open a support ticket if you think the refusal is wrong.
